Founding Design Engineer, SF

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Founding Design Engineer at Wrangle, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The responsibilities are on building critical architecture for search functionality and cross-functional collaboration, expanding on existing architecture and working with large-scale data pipelines. You'll be working with the team to build the most accurate search infrastructure over large sets of unstructured data, integrate with customer-facing data sources, and more.

You'll have lots of agency and be part of a fast-moving environment with real impact. You'll have ownership over frontend, customer-facing features, and scaling the design system as product surface area increases.

Process

If selected from the initial pool, you'll be briefly screened by one of the founders for eligibility. There will be a second screen to assess ability, and discuss culture and role fit. If selected post-screen, you'll communicate directly with the founding team to set up a paid work trial where you'll be given a specific focus and asked to implement changes/new functionality, where you'll be evaluated on following guidelines, utilizing available resources (AI permitted), and quality of the output.

Qualifications

• Strong portfolio of side projects, passion driven exploration and proven work

• Strong design sense and level of craft exhibited in work

• Experience with large data and complex systems architecture is a nice to have

• Full-stack experience with React, Node, SQL, Tailwind, and adjacent languages

• Experience with ranking/search algorithms and AI agents are a plus

• Ability to work hybrid and be in the office (Menlo Park or SF) multiple days a week

• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

• Prior startup experience preferred but not required

• Prior founding experience is a huge plus

Compensation

Compensation is in the $100k-150k range, with competitive equity.
